Equipment Summary
The research collections focus on Aotearoa New Zealand and the Pacific region and comprise;
- over 148,000 books, pamphlets and ephemera including Pacific and Antarctic voyaging and expedition reports, early colonial publications, Maori Land Court Minute Books and other rare and hard to find items
- 1,600 donated collections of documentary archives including diaries, correspondence, manuscripts, and administrative records from individuals and families, artists and writers, politicians, peace groups, unions, and other organisations
- over 100,000 architectural drawings from many of Canterbury's finest architects which cover a wide range of public and private dwellings and provide an indepth perspective on the region's built and unbuilt environment
- more than 50,000 photographs, many available digitally, offering a visual insight into New Zealand and Pacific cultures
- UC's art collection of over 3,000 art works, which create a broad spectrum view of the region's artistic landscape
