Project Abstract
This project aims to measure the extent of the dry snow zone and snow accumulation of polar ice sheets using satellite imaging Radar. This is of relevance for the validation of present climate models, which predict significant environmental changes in polar areas, as well as for the generation of input data for numerical ice sheet models. The data analysis is based on data from the German Terra-SAR satellite.
Collaborators in this project are the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research (AWI) in Germany, and the Institute for Meteorology and Geophysics in Innsbruck (IMGI).
