Project Abstract
New product development involves complex interactions between the many actors: client, customer (not always the same), product stylists, engineering designers, production engineers, marketers, etc. In addition the solution path is often not evident at the outset, and multiple rework loops may occur. Conventional project management methods are commonly applied in this area, but have struggled to cope with these complexities. In this project, which is being undertaken as a PhD thesis, we are interested in finding better ways to handle the interaction between members of the group. Our starting point is to find new ways to represent project interactions, using ontologies.
This project would suit a self-funded PhD student.
