Project Abstract

THIS PROJECT IS COMPLETE AND IS NOT AVAILABLE TO FURTHER POSTGRADUATE STUDY.

Above Ground Geothermal & Allied Technologies (AGGAT) is a HERA led co-operative research platform to support the development of Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) plant manufactured for the low enthalpy, geothermal and waste heat market.

The Turbomachinery (IS2-3) is one of many projects within this broader research & development programme. This project involves investigating the thermodynamic performance and design characteristics of turbines and expanders, and then moving on to building pilot expanders/turbines.

The nature of the work is primarily engineering design, with a focus on thermofluids. There are potential postgraduate opportunities in this project, though at this point in time we are still waiting for the completion of predecessor work before announcing any scholarship funding.
