Project Abstract
Development of a water life cycle system that evaporates and condenses fresh water from polluted or sea water using solar thermal technology.
This is a research and development (R&D) project the purpose of which is to develop a solar-powered desalination plant. The challenges are doing this without artificial energy sources, and making the product suitable for rural implementation. The research questions therefore involve (a) optimising the efficiency of the cycle, by developing a theoretical model of the heat and fluid mechanics, (b) implementing an optimised theoretical model into a robust electro-mechanical product design, and (c) verifying, by testing, of the theoretical and design models.
