Project Abstract
This project focused on creating a complex system to manage health and safety at EYCE centres that has the following features: (1) the system consists of two coupled aspects, i.e., the documented and enacted aspects, that interact with each other on an on-going basis; (2) it is a living and emergent system that changes as different parts of the system interact with each other.
The documented aspects of the system has emerged in the form of a Health and Safety Toolkit which includes tools, policies and procedures that guide teachers in their health and safety-related decisions and practices. This toolkit is updated when there is a change to the tools, policies and procedures, which enables teachers to have access to consistent and up-to-date information on the policies, procedures and tools that have been agreed upon at the centres.
