Project Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors which contribute to engagement and disengagement in secondary schooling for young people at risk of truancy within Christchurch. Young people with a history of truancy and their parents were invited to participate in this research, as well as experienced practitioners working in the field of truancy and attendance. The findings from this study will inform the development of a resource to be used by Attendance Services, schools, and other related practitioners seeking to enhance opportunities for young people at risk of disengagement from schooling.
