Project Abstract

This programme of research explores how risks are managed in engineering. Within this are multiple topics, each of which could be an individual research topic for postgraduate study.

How do engineers perceive the risks in various stages of a project? This is a question about cognitive processes.

Can we develop better methods for modelling risk? This could be in the risk assessments, project plans, or other methods. This is a question about expanding the capabilities of existing methods, or developing new representations, to better include risk.

Other topics available by discussion with interested students.
