Joanna engages in two research areas. The first relates to researcher development, the second involves museum & heritages studies, history & folklore.
Researcher development work involves co-creating workshops and resources (eg on research planning, impact and engagement), within the NZ national research and innovation system (eg PBRF). I am keen to connect with other researchers investigating academic identity and academic resilience.I am an Australasian Research Management Society (ARMS) Training Fellow for modules:1.1 The National Research & Innovation System in New Zealand,1.3 Understanding Research & Researchers, and4.2 Research Integrity.I am also Senior Adjunct Fellow, History, UC, and reviews editor for Museum Worlds: Advances in Research. Asides from supervision, examining and reviewing activities, I write on topics related to food folklore, women's history, heritage, cultural resilience and object-based learning (OBL) in higher education.2020, Visiting Researcher at Canterbury Museum to look at cookery books and other food-related ephemera
