Researcher Summary

Judy currently holds a Research Associate position with the School of Educational Studies and Leadership, while working as Education Consultant and Researcher in Auckland, NZ. Judy is engaged in a range of education projects including support for future focused education, leadership and equity work, especially at the intersections of youth development and education.

Judy recently returned from Kolkata, India where she worked as Head of Learning and Development at Freeset (a social enterprise). Her role there combined educational leadership and research in a freedom business context. Freedom businesses exist to journey with those who have been trafficked, or at risk of being trafficked.

Prior to this appointment, Judy worked as Senior Lecturer primarily at the intersections of teacher education and sociology of education. Her research crossed a range of justice contexts drawing on postcolonial and post-structural theoretical frameworks. Contexts included global citizenship, service-learning, alternative education, youth development and disengagement in education, and critical studies in curriculum, particularly physical education.

Judy is currently interested in research related to future focused, innovation in schooling, cultural capability, youth development, decoloniality, post-development studies, and (post)critical global citizenship.
