Researcher Summary
David Lavallee was appointed as the world’s first Professor of Duty of Care in Sport at Abertay University, Scotland in 2017. He has over 200 publications in the area of athlete and coach development and has been invited to present his research in 18 countries, including 24 keynote addresses. He is an Adjunct Professor of Sports Coaching at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, Adjunct Professor at the University of Limerick, Ireland and Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. His academic qualifications include a PhD from the University of Western Australia and a Master’s degree from Harvard University. With regards to commissions of trust, Professor Lavallee has chaired Government Advisory Boards and has significant International Advisory Experience, having advised the National Rugby League, Japanese Olympic Committee, British Olympic Association, Sport Ireland Institute, Scottish Institute of Sport, Gaelic Athletic Association, UK Coaching and English Institute of Sport.
