Researcher Summary
Dr Ronán Feehily’s research interests lie primarily in the field of international commercial dispute resolution. Additional research interests include corporate governance, international trade and legal education. An award-winning researcher, he is the author of 20 peer reviewed articles in leading journals in the USA, UK, South Africa, Australasia and Ireland. His monograph, 'International Commercial Mediation: Law and Regulation in Comparative Context', was published by Cambridge University Press in September 2022. He is co-author of the seminal legal texts 'Commercial Law and the Legal System', Thomson Reuters (NZ) 2020, 'Understanding Company Law', LexisNexis (NZ) 2019, and 'An Introduction to the Law of Contract in New Zealand', Thomson Reuters (NZ) 2018, and co-editor of the book ‘Governance, Globalisation and Dispute Resolution’, Star Publications (India) 2017. He has delivered 20 conference papers at leading conferences in the USA, UK, Africa, Australasia and Ireland. He supervises PhD students completing theses in International Commercial Dispute Resolution and Corporate Governance. A Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy, he is Course Coordinator for modules on Contract Law, Company Law, Commercial Law and International Commercial Mediation. Previously Assistant Professor in law at Durham University (UK), he also held the position of Associate Professor in Law at the branch campus of a UK university in Mauritius. With a background in legal practice, Dr Feehily has practiced as a commercial lawyer with a major Irish corporate law firm and as in-house legal counsel with a global FinTech company. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a CEDR Accredited Mediator, and practices as a commercial mediator and arbitrator.
